Aylesbury United Juniors: A Proud History of Football and Community
Aylesbury United Juniors Football Club (AUJFC) has been at the heart of the local community since its foundation in 1976. Originally known as Bearbrook Rangers FC, the club began with boys primarily from Bearbrook Middle School competing in the Aylesbury Junior Football League. In 1985, the club transitioned to play under the prestigious banner of Aylesbury United Juniors FC, following an invitation from Aylesbury United FC.
Over the years, Aylesbury United Juniors built a legacy in leagues such as the Wycombe and South Bucks Junior Football League, the South Bucks Youth League, and the Chiltern Youth League. However, in 1998, the club underwent changes when some teams branched out to form Aylesbury Town FC and later Aylesbury Athletic FC. This period marked 13 years without youth teams directly representing Aylesbury United FC. During this time, Aylesbury Town and Aylesbury Athletic proudly served the town, nurturing thousands of young footballers.
In 2013, a significant milestone was achieved when Aylesbury Town FC remerged with Aylesbury United FC. This brought Aylesbury United Juniors FC back into the heart of the community, offering football opportunities for all. Today, alongside its sister club, Aylesbury United Ladies and Girls FC, the Juniors proudly stand as FA Accredited Clubs, providing high-quality, inclusive football for boys, girls, and individuals with special needs.
The FA Accreditation reflects the club’s commitment to child protection, quality coaching, and safety, ensuring a welcoming and sustainable environment for all players. In 2005, the club launched TOWNies, a Saturday morning program designed to introduce young children to football. Following the merger, TOWNies evolved into MiniDucks, run in partnership with BASE, continuing to inspire the next generation of footballers.
Inclusivity remains at the core of AUJFC’s values. Since 2013, the club has offered dedicated Inclusive football sessions for children with disabilities and special needs, striving to break down barriers and ensure everyone can enjoy the beautiful game.
In 2014, the club further expanded its offerings by introducing Walking Football sessions, primarily for those over 50 but welcoming anyone interested in staying active through the sport. This initiative has flourished, providing a fun and engaging way for older players to enjoy football.
A highlight of the club’s calendar is its annual Six-a-Side Football Festival. Known as one of the finest tournaments in the South of England, the event draws over 250 teams each year, celebrating the passion and spirit of grassroots football.
Aylesbury United Juniors FC continues to uphold its proud legacy, fostering a love for football while promoting inclusivity, community, and development for all.
